Ocular Surface Disease

What is ocular surface disease? It's a myriad of conditions that affect the daily lives of millions. It's a term that is inclusive of dry eye disease. These conditions can be due to changes in the eyelids, the meibomian glands, the conjunctiva, the eyelashes, tear film, or the cornea. Many of these conditions cause similar symptoms and often go untreated, then become a chronic progressive problem. I aim to educate on the importance of early intervention!

Most of my patients have been suffering for years before they have found relief with advanced treatments. There's often so much inflammation at this point that they think of their eyes constantly. If we learn proper ocular hygiene and have regular in-office cleanings, we can slow the progression and improve quality of life.
